DDLJ at Maratha Mandir

Being a Shahrukh Khan fan watching Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge at Maratha Mandir was on my list for the longest time now. Finally last weekend I decided to go for the movie with a friend. Now I know Maratha Mandir is not exactly a theater for a girl to go alone, people stare! Even if you are fully covered! But that’s beside the point, just take someone along with you and you should be fine.

The show starts at 11.30am but I wanted to reach a little early so that I have enough time to take pictures and videos. When I entered, the place was quite empty, slowly however people started coming in.  The tickets start at 15rupees and go up to 25rupees, which really is unbelievable.

The theater has such an old world charm to it, it actually makes you feel you are back in time. Check out the vlog below to know what I am talking about. They serve those popcorn in plastic bags, Pepsi and ice-cream cones. It really felt like I was back in the 90s.

We had got the balcony tickets, I was surprised that it was almost houseful! People still do love watching this movie. There were whistles, claps and woots at every scene and after a while even I got into that groove. It was like everyone there wanted us to have a good time and really enjoy the movie!

I would be lying if I say that I wasn’t apprehensive about going there. It just was something that I wanted to do. I think the uncle at the ticket counter knows that some people come to watch the film just for the kicks of it and thus he suggested us good seats (a little away from the crowd)

If I ignore the constant staring there was not a single bad experience at the movie. And if you are planning to go the movie then I strongly suggest that you should go for it!

I still can’t believe that I actually saw DDLJ after 20 years on a big screen at Maratha Mandir!

Limeroad Shopping Experience

Online shopping has always been a mixture of good and bad for me, at times I receive products just the way I had wanted it and at times I have been terribly disappointed. That’s the reason I always stick to my favorite online shopping site. I have bought dresses from limeroad twice (including this one).

The last time I ordered a dress it was for an event and I was hoping that they deliver just at the right time. I knew I was playing with fire as I had ordered it last minute. Luckily it got delivered on the day of the event! That impressed me and I knew I could depend on this site, not that I made it a habit to shop last minute.

This time keeping in mind the summer that’s approaching, I opted for a flared flowery dress

Again the entire process was hassle free.

I loved that the site gives you various style sheets describing how you can carry the product that you are buying. It’s like having your own personal stylist.

Love the cute print! <3 td="">

Regular SMS and mail updates about the delivery process kept me informed what exactly is happening with the product. The delivery was on time which won Limeroad some brownie points from me J

Talking about the product, it’s exactly how I thought it would be – flowy, comfortable and cute.

Limeroad didn’t disappoint me this time as well J

Water Crisis

The other day there was a water cut in my building, because we didn’t know that the water cut was going to happen we didn’t have any water saved up. Almost all my work and meetings got delayed because I just couldn’t carry on with my daily chores without water. Now imagine a water cut everyday, imagine not getting enough water, imagine government imposing section 144 in your area because they foresee a riot due to water crisis.

Scary isn’t it?

Actually, you don’t even have to imagine that. The section has already been imposed in Latur in Maharashtra.

You can read about it here and here

The thought that humans can turn against each other for water is scary! Really really very scary! And it’s even scarier that the other half of people who for now have water are not using it wisely. I see water wastage everywhere! Come on people, these are the things we learnt about in school as a part of our primary education. Why are we behaving like illiterate literates?

The IPL matches are terrifying me even further; lakhs of liters of water would be wasted just for a few games. That same water could save so many lives and when I say lives, I don’t only mean humans, it also means cattle, birds and other animals in our surroundings. They need water too.
I completely agree with the Governments stand that they matches should be rearranged in some other state where there is no water problem.

Just today morning, I saw a water tanker with a leaking tap. A lot of water was wasted, something needs to be done about that as well.

It’s the small daily things that we do that contributes to wasting water, can we just try and be a little more cautious about the thing that is so very important for or survival?

Silly Me

I knew I was going wrong, behaving in a way that I shouldn’t be. It’s just a snap reaction that gets things messed up and an hour after the snap I realise how worthless it was but alas the damage is already done.

I thought venting it out on the blog would help, I began writing and even before completing the first para I realised how stupid I was being. I was just focusing on that one thing that could go wrong and ignoring all the other amazing things that were right at the moment.

Causing myself all the trouble, sleepless nights and restlessness was just not worth it when I look at the big picture. Baffled I thought of ways to fix it but couldn’t come up with anything.

Laughed at myself, hoped that things get back to normal, turned the post into a draft and started writing this one.

Venting it out on the blog did help, only difference – I didn’t vent it out  :P
