Oriflame SkinPro Cleansing System – Review

I started using Oriflame SkinPro Cleansing System around a month and a half back. I did to a first impressions on my Instagram (you can follow me there for more such videos. Id is @poojamahimkar). I wanted to give it proper time, use the product daily and then review it, thus such a delay.

I was contemplating buying a product like this for a while now, I was planning to get clearsonic but then I got to know that my trusted Oriflame also has a cleansing system, and thus chose to get one from Oriflame. I have been using Oriflame products for a while now and have never been disappointed.

Getting to the review, I have been loving what it does to my skin. I use it every night after removing my makeup. You can use it to remove your make up as well, but I noticed that the brush gets dirty with all the makeup. Also you cannot use this to remove your eye makeup, thus I prefer using it after removing my makeup so when I use this, it removes all the makeup that I couldn’t get out in the first go.

The brush is super soft! It is very gentle and still manages to give you a clean face. Trust me, I was worried that the bristles and the brush will be harsh on my skin, but it is far, very far from harsh.
This product is god sent! I am generally very lazy and tired to clean my face and get rid of all the makeup. This product makes sure that I go to bed with a clean, clear, makeup free face. Using it is also fun and thus it doesn’t feel like a big task and I have noticed that ever since I got this, I have been sticking to my night time routine.

How I use SkinPro
I use my make up remover and remove all the makeup
Wash my face with a mild face wash. Rinse thoroughly.
Apply a little facewash on the face, wet the brush head and use it. Rinse thoroughly.
The brush head rotates, and you are supposed to move it around in circular motion on your face and neck. The machine automatically stops after 1 minute.
After rinsing my face and patting it dry I apply my night cream and a dab coconut oil on my face.

There is no point in using good skincare products if your pores are clogged and the makeup has not come off right. A well cleansed skin helps better absorbs the products that you are applying, thus making sure your skin gets the most of everything you put on your skin. Even if you are not much into skincare products, a well cleansed skins, allows it to breath and throughout the night and thus gives you nice glowing skin in the morning.

This product removes makeup, dirt, dead skin cells and impurities from the pores. It also stimulates blood circulation giving you a beautiful radiant glow.

SkinPro has two speed settings; I use it on the fast mode.  The machine works on batteries; I have been using the product for a month and half now and didn’t have to change the batteries yet.

The product comes with a stand, a brush cap, two batteries and a travel pouch.

I have used the travel pouch and it is very convenient.

The product itself is very cute, it is a cute little blue thing. Really adorable! The design is also such that it very easy to hold.

I have noticed that my skin feels soft. It also enables blood circulation and thus after using it, I have noticed that my skin feels tight, I don’t know if I am using the right word here, but it makes the skin firm in a way that it feels like it is ensuring that my skin doesn’t sag or create wrinkles.

It has helped me curb my acne as well. I used to get acne and pimples at odd places, ever since I have started using this, it has curbed it a lot.  I now get one or two pimples around the time I get my periods, but other than that, my face more or less is clear. It has also helped me keep blackheads and whiteheads away.

You can use this twice a day, but I prefer to use it only once, at the end of the day.

You need to change the brush heads every few months, you can buy the brush head online.

I have loved the product and I think I am going to use it for a long time now.

Buy It From Here:

As on their website:

Summer Hacks To Make Your Life Easy

Use that refrigerator
Put your night cream, moisturiser, eye cream in the fridge. It will keep it cool and will give you a cooling effect every night. It really is soothing and feels amazing on the skin.

If you suffer from sun burn, then chill some Aloe vera gel in the fridge and use it every night on the burnt area. Aloe has a natural soothing effect and with the chilling, it will provide you some extra cooling.

Keep a spray bottle filled with water in the fridge, just spray it on your face for a cooling effect. I have a spray bottle in my bag all the time, so if I have a long day, a quick spray is a good pick-me-up. You can add some rose water or green tea water in it as well.

The summer heat can melt your lipstick, just pop it in the fridge and it will get back in shape.

Deodorant Hack
Apply a little bit of deodorant on your neck, this will keep you sweat free, won’t mess up the hair around your neck area and will add some fragrance every time you move your hair.

I haven’t tried this one personally but have heard about this from a couple of friends, applying deodorant on your thighs will prevent them from chafing. If you try this, please do let me know if it works. You can comment below or tweet to me at @poojamahimkar or just click on www.twitter.com/poojamahimkar

Ice Ice Water!
Rub an ice cube on your face before applying makeup. It closes your pores, works as a primer and refreshes your skin and makes sure that you makeup stays on perfect for a longer time.

Apply a cold towel to ankles, behind the knees, wrists, inside elbows or temples, this can easily lower your body temperature. These pulse points are areas where the blood vessels are closest to your skin. So keeping them cool with a cold compress or pouring water on them will quickly lower your blood temperature and your entire body will cool off.

Weekend Away at Radisson Blu Resort and Spa in Alibaug | Weekend Away Near Mumbai and Pune

Stone’s throw away from Mumbai, Alibaug is the ideal place to go to when you wish to get some beach time. It’s like a mini Goa right in your backyard. On my recent trip to Alibaug though, I gave beaches a miss and spent all my time pampering myself.
I went to Radisson Blu Resort and Spa in Alibaug. I was looking forward to a relaxing weekend away and this was an ideal place. The place is around a three hour drive away from Mumbai and every aspect of the place speaks ‘Luxury’.
We had opted for a Lake View Villa, which had a gorgeous view of the lake, a spacious living area along and upstairs was the bedroom and the bathroom with a bathtub. The Villas are right opposite the pool so every morning you could just get out of the room and get into the pool. The pool is huge and dominates the resort. I noticed that there are rooms which are attached to the pool, so you don’t even have to get out of your room, you can just dive into the pool from your room itself!
Most of the other rooms have been designed in such a way that they all have their unique features and view. You won’t be disappointed with your room.
The place is calm and relaxing, I didn’t even think once of getting out of the resort, there was so much to do right there!
They have a gym, library, outdoor sports area, indoor sports area, discotheque, piano lounge etc.
We reached here on Saturday evening, after checking into our room and relaxing for a bit we headed out for a walk. I noticed that they have religious place of worship as well in the resort. After the walk, we headed for dinner. They have buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner at Aparanta. The spread was nice and had a lot of options; my favorite of course was the dessert counter. They also have a Jain section. The dishes change every day so you have tons of options and variety each day.

We spent most of our day 2 in the pool, it can get a little hot in the afternoon and thus I scheduled a spa appointment at that time. I also tried my hand at Lawn Tennis but didn’t do very well at that. They provide you with all the supplies you need for the game so you don’t have to carry anything with you. They also rent you a bicycle if you are into biking.
For the spa, I opted for a full body orange and lemon scrub and a full body deep tissue massage. The massage rooms are spacious and calming. The minute you step into the massage zone, the calming music and the aroma will you at ease. The scrub and the massage, both, were relaxing and I didn’t want it to stop. The masseuse applied the right pressure to help me with my stiff back and knots.
For dinner, we decided to skip the buffet and head to Kokum and Spice.  The place specializes in sea food and serves only Malwani, Goan and Manglorean cuisine.
We opted for a Malwani Bombil starter and Goan Vindaloo with Manglorean Neer Dosa, a little bit from every cuisine you see. The food didn’t disappoint us.  The vibe of the restaurant is also very calm and quiet and will be perfect for a dinner date or if you are celebrating something special.
In the piano lounge, they play piano live every evening. You can choose to chill here with a few cocktails. Above the piano lounge is a cozy little discotheque.  Perfect isn’t it? Piano, cocktails and then dancing.

We headed back to the room after that. The check-out time is 12.30 pm, giving you enough time to pack your bags, have a nice breakfast and then head home. Which is exactly what we did.
The stay here was perfect and I look forward to going here again. It can be perfect you want a few days away from work and the hectic city life. The fact that the resort itself has so much to offer helped as I didn’t get bored for a second, there was always something to look forward to.

After a long long weeks at work I was in a desperate need to a weekend away and Radisson Blu Resort and Spa in Alibaug was the perfect destination, not too far from the city and still away so that I could relax and get some time for myself before getting back to the city life.

Bohemian Brew, Khar - Review

Just next to Oh Calcutta in Khar is this new little place. Honestly, it didn’t look very appealing from the outside but once we got in the place looked lovely. We reached a little earlier than dinner time and thus found the place vacant. I loved that, it was like the place was open just for us.

It is a very well thought out place, they have indoor and outdoor seating area, a basement sort of a place, where you can unwind with the tea they brew for you – read a book, work for a while, have some ‘me’ time, organise a small get together, the place is great addition to the restaurant. The indoor seating area has a very bohemian vibe, of course they had to create this ambience owing to the name of the restaurant.

The outdoor area also continues the bohemian ambience with a lot of green thrown in. It was pleasing to the eye to see so many plants around. They also have a small indoor place for when you want to go out for meals with around 10 people. They allow hookah/sheesha there as well.

Now coming to the food and the teas.
They have tons of tea options and I am sure you’ll find something that you’ll love.

Watermelon and feta salad with Thai dressing was amazing.  I love watermelon and cheese both, this was the perfect combination of both, I could make a meal out of this.

Fermented Tea Leaf Salad was interesting, lots of leafs and healthy ingredients to make you feel like you ate a lot and still not put on any calories.

Spicy cheesy kuboos stayed true to its name and was cheesy and yum.  The dip that it came with was interesting, the perfect blend of flavour and spicy that you need.

Chicken meatballs in Gouda sauce again is my favourite. Served with bread, this can be filling so I suggest you share it with your friends if you are planning to eat other dishes too.

Prawn calamari with lemon butter ajillo sauce again, was very interesting. The prawn did feel a little tough and not as soft as I am used to having them. I am not sure if it is supposed to be that way or if they were just a little undercooked, they didn’t feel raw though. The gravy with it was yum and I suppose will go well with plain rice.

Roasted garlic and mascarpone risotto was yummy! It wasn’t super cheesy but just the right amount. Just the way I like it.

Cottage cheese steak with Ratatouille was something I had never tried before. It’s a lot of cottage cheese and again can tend to get a little heavy. But it is yum none the less.

Moroccan chicken Tagline with preserved lemon and apricots, THIS is the star dish for me. They serve it with a slice of pickled lemon and you are supposed to have a tinny bit of it with every bite. It completely changes the taste of the dish. Have a bite without the lemon and then taste it with the lemon, it’s like having two different dishes!

Cranberry ice tea is the only beverage I tried. Refreshing and just the right thing to have after this heavy meal.

I wonder why they don’t serve alcohol; it will be nice to have a cocktail with this delicious meal.

Uber chronicle

After a long week, it was finally time for the weekend. She couldn’t wait to get home. She checked both Ola and Uber and they both had surge prices, so they were going to charge her more than double the usual fare to get me home. She thus decided to opt for a pool, hoping she will be lucky enough to not share my cab with anyone. She booked a cab, it was four minutes away and she noticed that she had to share it with two other people, she cancelled it. Checked the apps for other options, didn’t find anything. She booked an uberpool again and got the same cab and it was like 30 seconds away from where her location. She cursed herself and unwillingly went downstairs. The cab was waiting just outside the office, she got in. She was sharing the cab with two other men, let’s call them A and B.

Driver: hello ma’am, why did you cancel the cab earlier?
She: (I was pleasantly surprised that we were conversing in English) Oh, I was just trying my luck. I thought I could find a cab which was closer.
(She was about to plug in her earphones but realised that the driver was making small talks with A so decided to overhear the conversation instead. She did find A a little cute though)
Driver: (To passenger A ) so how do you find Mumbai and Indian politics?
A: I am not a very good judge, and I don’t like sharing my opinions on politics with the locals here because they may not take it very nicely. But it does seem that the politics can improve, not that the US political scenario is any better you see.
Driver: You have only two parties contesting elections right? We have many here.
A: Yes, only two. But I am sure having multiple choice is a good idea.
Driver: what are you doing in Mumbai?
A: I am here for a 3 months Internship.
( At this, she was all ears to what he was saying. She is a journalist and such things make a good story. There was silence for some time until A saw a man driving a bicycle on the road)
A: You guys bike on the road? I bike back in the states but I cannot imagine biking here in India on such roads.
Driver:  Oh, you’ll see not many people bike in India. But the middle class uses it at times. It’s a cheap mode of commute you see.
( She decides to intervene )
She: Hi, are you studying here?
A: No, I am here for an internship.
She: I write for education at XYZ publication. Would you like to write an article for me?
A: for sure!
She: here’s my card. Email me.
( At this B intervenes )
B:  You work at XYZ? I work there too
She: Oh what a co-incidence! Which department?
( they go on and introduce themselves and talk about work)
Driver: Ma’am, I need to complain about someone in the publication you work in. Who do I get in touch with?
She: umm.. I write for education, I don’t have contacts in the other beats but who do you want to complain about? I can try to help you.
Driver: I want to complain about you for cancelling the cab earlier.
A: Why are you bringing that up all the time? She has all the right to cancel your cab and try to find something faster.
Driver: oh I am not angry, I am just saying just like that
A: well, it looks like you are angry. Stop it.

( soon they had reached the place where B had to get off, he left saying a quick “see you” to her. She was getting dropped off next; she got off saying a quick bye and asking A to email her)
